Solomon - The Scholar 001
This was one of the first paintings I did of the series. Before I begin work, I spend a bit of time studying films I enjoy and use them as a muse or a source of study. For this painting I paid close attention to the master work of cinematographer Roger Deakins. Specifically his work on 007 Skyfall. There is a poetic sense of light and shadow to that ending scene that never left me and I did my best to honor it here in the realm of Mortal Shell. Of course it doesn’t hurt to have such amazing subject matter :). This was the first clear piece in the series that helped guide my motivation and direction for the rest of them. More to come!
