One of the many inspirations behind the design of this character came from three main sources. The skin suits from the original Dune film, The alien suit from the original alien and a hybrid of interesting insects and animals. Nature is and always has been my greatest teacher. Dmitry and I both share similar taste so our ability to compliment one another work was very fun and rewarding during the modeling process. For this piece I wanted to find a way to light the character from the top but just enough to hide enough to let our minds finish its details. I study the original alien film often for visual story telling. I consider that film to be a masterpiece and one of the things I love most about the visuals asides from the incredible textures and design is the way it was shot and how they would put things in front of the camera to create claustrophobia and pull the viewer in. I wanted to share these things with you all for those of you who are like me… always wanting to improve and trying to learn from others. I hope they give a little insight into the process :)
