EX-TENEBRIS 001

It’s probably a bit evident to everyone here that I love odd things and most of the work I create comes from fascinations I have had since I was a child. I didn’t have much growing up but I would almost always have a pencil and paper and with those two items I could be lost for hours creating my own worlds and characters. That concept hasn’t really stopped. I Still try to make as much time for my personal work as I can afford. It’s vital to me to have that time to myself. To learn new things. To test new ideas and to simply explore. It’s easy to get lost in the demands of others but listening to your own voice as an artist is where I find a good balance. So a little back story on this series Ex Tenebris (Latin for... from the dark) was a character I had sketched out for the Batman Beyond series Friendlyrobot and I created recently. We ended up going a different route in the series but I still had this design that I though was fun to explore. I really adore Dmitry Parkin work and asked if he wanted to finish the design of the character with me. Thankfully he was and he did an amazing job elevating the over all design and forms. The character took on a totally new identity in my mind and over the recent break I built out a series of 10 pieces.
