During the incept stages of the design process for The Batman many ideas and concepts are thrown into the project to see which connected most with the themes and the world that Matt had envisioned. As I mentioned in previous posts I submitted a variation of concepts until we landed on the general concept of the Batmobile that you see in the film. I thought it would be fun to take those older files, mash them up and share some of my thinking when building out these iterations. Most of the core layout and wheel base is the same as the final concept but the key differences in this design is in the over all body lines, ratios and the raw open tube chassis front. With this design I really wanted to connect the visual language of the exposed rear that was working and bring that methodology to the front. I also wanted to find a way to put more Bat symbol iconography into the line and form language giving the front the same visual impact as the rear (do you see the bat symbol in the front?). One of my key inspirations was the iconic Porsche 917. It is such a raw machine with one intention and since the Batmobile has similar character traits I figured it would be a great way to connect the two concepts. It’s been fun to share what I love with you all :)
