Solomon - The Scholar 003
With this piece I was trying to find a way to balance the mood of unknown and make it just readable enough to create a feeling. I chose to keep the main light low enough to let his left shoulder cast its shadow on his face hiding his features and let the back light fill in his silhouette to push the image forwards. One of the key things I am learning is how to paint the subject with light and find a way to evoke a sense of mood and feeling from the lighting. Its a never ending balancing act with is very challenging but incredibly rewarding once you find the sweet spot.
